About JLK Croydon
Just Little Kidz Croydon is located on London Road, CR7 7YE — a warm, welcoming setting where every child feels safe, seen and celebrated. We welcome children from 3 months up to 5 years old, and our team of experienced early years practitioners work hard to build a genuine home-from-home environment.
We are Ofsted-registered, DBS-checked and members of the NDNA. Our Croydon setting also offers extended hours for families who need them.
Opening hours
JLK Croydon is open Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 7:00pm (extended hours subject to availability), 51 weeks per year. We close on bank holidays and for one week over Christmas.
Standard hours at all sites are 8:00am – 6:00pm. The extended 7am–7pm window at Croydon is available for families who need early drop-off or later collection — please ask about availability and any additional charges when you visit.
Session types
We offer flexible sessions to suit your family's routine:
- Full day — the most popular option for working parents
- Half day morning — ideal for younger children building up hours
- Half day afternoon — less common but available
- Ad-hoc sessions — subject to availability, booked in advance
Minimum bookings apply. View the full Croydon fee schedule →
Government-funded hours
Your child may be entitled to government-funded early education hours, which can reduce — or in some cases eliminate — your weekly fees during term time.
- From 9 months: 15 funded hours/week for eligible working families
- 2-year-olds: 15 funded hours/week for eligible families
- 3 & 4-year-olds: 15 funded hours/week for all; up to 30 hrs for working families
We accept all major funded entitlements at Croydon. Check your eligibility and get your code at childcarechoices.gov.uk, then let us know when you register.
Note: funded hours are term-time only. Holiday sessions are charged at the standard daily rate.
Meals & snacks
We provide freshly prepared, nutritious meals throughout the day — you do not need to send a packed lunch. Our menus are planned by our team to be balanced, child-friendly and varied.
We cater for all dietary requirements, allergies and cultural preferences. Please let us know at registration so we can make the right arrangements before your child starts.
A small food charge applies for children attending on government-funded-only sessions (breakfast £2, snack £2, lunch £4.50, tea £4). This does not apply to children paying standard fees.
Settling in: what to expect
We have a structured, gentle settling-in process designed to make the transition as smooth as possible — for your child and for you. It typically involves a series of short visits before your child's official start date, gradually increasing in length.
Every child is paired with a key person — but not on day one. During the first 2–3 weeks, we watch how your child settles and which practitioner they naturally connect with, then match them deliberately rather than assigning at random. The bond is stronger when it's built on observation, not allocation.
What to bring on the first day
We keep it simple. You'll need:
- Nappies and wipes — only if your child is on a part-time or ad-hoc booking. Full-time Croydon bookings include nappies and wipes.
- A labelled change of clothes (two is better)
- Any comfort item your child relies on (teddy, dummy — all welcome)
- Any medication with a completed consent form
